In one of his less known statements the Rt Hon Enoch Powell, MP said that if Britain lost its respect for Christianity, it would eventually end up being forced to respect another religion. This premonition was largely overshadowed by his 'Rivers of Blood' speech, which I wrote about recently, but warrants closer examination as the gentleman was a visionary.
Since then homosexuality has gone from being a taboo to a celebration in our liberal country today. Tolerance has gone to promotion through media, show business, sex education at schools, 'gay bars', and promulgations in our institutions, to quote only a few examples. There has been a proliferation of sex shops, lap dancing clubs and abortion clinics. Christian assembly has gone from our schools and each passing Christmas has become more secularised.
As Songs of Praise continues to be watered down and street preachers get arrested for proclaiming the gospel, where are the Bishops?
Archbishop Welby can be heard praising the Pope, stating that Christians must change with the times, and wants the words 'sin' and 'repentance' removed from Christening rites.
Meanwhile Islam continues unchallenged with its expansionist agenda in Britain.
Going back several decades there were about 50 mosques in this country. Contrast this with a few thousand Islamic places of worship and learning centres today. Churches in the process have been sold to this religion of submission as Christianity abdicates.
Sharia Law courts in Britain with the tacit approval of Government are making medieval judgments incompatible with our legal system. Where muslims are even in the minority in an increasing number of schools, non muslims are required to eat halal meat. In some local councils during Ramadan where catering facilities are closed during the day, it's too bad on the 'infidel' members, yet this is officially defined as equality. In another anomaly muslims can claim benefits for up to four wives. The list of instances are numerous where Islam is taking over Britain, but the constraints of space stops me from giving more, suffice to say Enoch Powell was again right. Watch how Sharia Banking grows in the City this year.
The previous Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Williams said a few years ago that Sharia Law was inevitable in this country, or words to that effect.
Who needs Islamists forcing open the doors when liberal christians are opening up the windows?
